Ian Ridgway earns a great honor !
Ian Ridgway of Naperville [youth bowler at Fox Bowl] and Sara Howell of Slidell, La., have been selected as Youth Ambassadors of the Year by the IBC Youth Committee.
The Youth Ambassador of the Year is annually awarded to recognize one male and one female USBC Youth bowler for exemplary contributions in the sport of bowling outside of league or tournament play, academic accomplishments and community involvement. One of the winners could be selected to serve on the IBC Youth Committee.
Ridgway is a senior at Matea Valley High School, has taken seven AP and honors classes, and has earned an academic letter every semester of his high school career. He has worked on community projects as a member of the Key Club and Student Athlete Leadership Team, in addition to working with Special Olympic bowlers, the American Red Cross, Feed My Starving Children and worked on a fund-raiser for military veterans, Strikes for Veterans, that raised more than $12,000. Matea Valley High School does not have a boys' bowling team, so Ridgway managed the girls' team and competed as an individual to promote the sport at his school, and it led to him earning Student Athlete of the Month honors. He also finished sixth in the IHSA boys' state tournament as an individual.
Ridgway will attend Mount Mercy University where he plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy, and he will compete on the bowling team.
"It feels great to be recognized for all the hard work that I've put into trying to grow the sport within my high school and the community," Ridgway said. "I hope the work that I have done so far is just a beginning, and that I continue to inspire others as I progress through my bowling career."

Fox Bowl Open Tournament Fox Bowl V.I.P. Invitational
We had a nice crowd for the Fox Bowl Open Tournament and the Fox Bowl V.I.P. Invitational! (The Open tournament is for all our league bowlers, the V.I.P. Invitational is for our league bowlers who bowled 700 series or higher and games of 275 or higher) A nice way to wrap up the past bowling season and usher in the Summer Leagues. High scores continued from the league season into the Open and V.I.P. tournament. This Years Tournament Champion in Steve "Wojbeast" Wojdyla. A truly deserved winner. This guy puts the work in on the lanes with practice, and his lessons. And he stays on top of his bowling equipment, keeping it in tip top shape through the Fox Bowl Pro Shop.
Both Tournaments are bowled simultaneously, using the same 4 games. Not all bowlers qualify for the V.I.P. Invitational.

The last few weekends have been PACKED here at Fox Bowl. The schedule , the questionable weather, and it's just that time of year to bowl. But one of the greatest reasons we have been so busy is our fundraisers. By partnering with local Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Special needs, Scouts and neighborhood groups and churches, over $100000 have been raised for the various groups. From the well seasoned Fundraiser hosts to the novices. Fox Bowl works hand in hand to ensure your group gets what it needs to be successful. And trust us, you and your guests will have a Ball!

Disabled Veterans Fund Raiser
Sunday, Oct 16th at 12 Noon the sound of crashing pins and cheering bowlers followed a rousing rendition of the National Anthem performed by the singing sensation group Musicality. And the 1st Annual Friends of Fisher House Charity Benefit was off to a great start.
A total of 26 teams and many individuals competed to support our disabled veterans and their families through the efforts of Fisher House located in Maywood, IL near Hines Veterans Hospital. Our most notable attendees were the veterans themselves, centered right in the middle of the action on lanes 13 thru 16. Despite their disabilities or handicaps these brave veterans were able to bowl with the use of special bowling equipment designed by IKAN BOWLING.
Other notable attendees included: Dan Pasqua, Chicago White Sox; Tracy Wilson, Jr., Tennessee Titans; Diandra Asbaty, Bill Spigner, Mike Nape, Gregg Zicha, and Brian Hirsch representing bowlings finest competitors and instructors; "The Don of Sports" Don Figarelli, host of Addison's Sport Center TV program; Musicality, from America's Got Talent who performed our National Anthem; staff from US99 Country Music; and the 4 collegiate bowling teams from Robert Morris College
The Robert Morris teams dominated the competition with the Men's Varsity squad ultimately winning the championship. The RM teams generously donated their prizes to the amateur teams that followed them in the standings. The prizes included Storm/RotoGrip bowling balls, travel bags, and Bowlifi sport jerseys.
Thank you to our many Corporate Sponsors and a special thanks to our ladies in the Arrowhead Bowling League. The ladies generously sponsored 3 youth teams in the event ($375) through their own personal contributions, in memory of our recently lost friend, Carol Kahlfeldt.
